The German theologian and mystic Meister Eckhart saw something with great clarity — every Christian has the vocation of Mary, to bring Christ to birth. In essence, we are all pregnant with Jesus. Jesus is inside each one of us. Each of us gives birth to Jesus Christ in our own way and style based on our unique vocation and mission. We do this by going through our own “labor” — by surrendering ourselves to the greater One inside of us, by abandoning our projects and plans and our sense of the good life, and submitting and being obedient to God’s purpose working through us.
Mary delivered Jesus 2000+ years ago on what we now celebrate as “Christmas.” It is our due date as well — Christmas Day and every day!
