That’s God!

Thats GodThis post was inspired by a reflection by Richard Gula in Give Us This Day …

As Christians, we are called to do the “e-word” — evangelize. That can be a bit scary. Evangelization is about naming grace. I like that. It is not about bringing God to people, as though God were not already there! He is there, everywhere — our role is to acknowledge God and name His presence. The call to spread the gospel requires us to be aware and awake of everyday experiences. We are “guides” assisting others to see God — the Extraordinary — in our ordinary, daily lives. We see and proclaim God’s divine favor that sustains us. It is as simple as acknowledging and praising God as our lives unfold …

  • A smile, laughter, amusement … That’s God!
  • A job well done, gratitude … That’s God!
  • An apology, forgiving, restoring … That’s God!
  • Going the extra step, giving without expecting anything in return … That’s God!
  • Serving others through our work, our attention, our talents … That’s God!
  • Observing courage, bravery, boldness … That’s God!
  • Taking in nature in all shapes and sizes … That’s God!
  • Sensory experiences — touch, smell, taste … That’s God!
  • Being still, breathing, physical movement … That’s God!
  • Making a difference through our being … That’s God!

We all become evangelists when we see such signs of the Extraordinary breaking through the ordinary and acknowledge these moments as God’s saving grace. Praise God!

I agree with Erin sequencing + roredering makes sense. If you are hoping to streamline and reduce (simplify) the list, numbers 16, 23 and 26 could be deleted in my opinion. Numbers 1, 9 and 10 are my favorites; they are the reason I keep coming back and reading your blog, your tweets your FB posts.
