Pope Francis has intentionally raised awareness regarding MERCY. This past year was the Year of Mercy — a year focused on the call to be merciful to others. James Martin recently pointed out that we may have forgotten to extend mercy to ourselves. We know that God looks upon us, and everyone, with mercy. We have been challenged to give mercy to others. And let’s not forget one of the most difficult persons to be merciful towards, which is the person we look at in the mirror … OURSELVES!
Look upon yourself mercifully. As the calendar year comes to an end, give yourself a break for all that you do and have done. Be easy with yourself. Pray for the grace to see yourself as God sees you: someone who is trying his or her best. Care for yourself as God cares for you.
