An Audience of One

One of the key breakthroughs on my journey of unfettering was getting clear about who was my audience.  A particular challenge for me has been the desire to please others. So many times I found myself focusing on and worrying about multiple audiences, making it virtually impossible that I could realistically please and satisfy everyone. I have given way too much power to what other people are thinking about me, generating a great deal of worry and anxiety for myself and limiting my overall effectiveness and impact. Pleasing the masses is a winless, thankless endeavor.

Then one day I was blessed with insight as to whom I should focus on as my sole “audience.” That person — God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!  My “audience of one.” When I approach every activity with the focus on doing God’s will and giving glory to God above all, everything falls into place. If I am pleasing my Heavenly Father and honoring Him with my work, my words, my actions — I am completely content and satisfied that I did my very best and the Master is saying to me, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

As a “pleaser” who wants others to like me and approve of me, my work has been greatly simplified and fulfilling when I focus on serving just One. I highly recommend it!
