Who’s Boss?

by Ray Reuter on May 21, 2015

“You’re not the boss of me!” “Don’t boss me around!”

We all are tempted to declare who’s our boss, and often we choose ourselves! Yet, if we pause to think we realize we are really not “The Boss.”

It serves us well to approach each day with awareness of who is “The Boss.” As we make plans for the day, it is useful to remember that God orchestrates the events of our lives. He is The Boss! On days when things go smoothly, according to my plans, I can forget and be unaware of The Boss and His sovereign Presence. And on days when my plans are thwarted, I can quickly get frustrated with and blame The Boss.

Yet, like a good Boss, something important may be happening for my benefit, my growth, my future development and promotion — even it is something quite different from what I expected. It is essential at such times to stay connected with The Boss, trusting and accepting The Boss’ way as better than mine. When I fully trust My Boss, I am able to let go of trying to figure out what is happening. I lean into My Boss and know good will come out of it all. The Boss has plans for us … and they are good!
